Bondage

Bondage refers to the act of tying someone up. It is generally done as an act of control or to enhance sexual play in some form of another. Bondage is commonly used in BDSM though it does not have to be. People that are not interested in BDSM can still enjoy the numerous types of bondage ideas and techniques there are, with the intent of enhancing sexual pleasure.

There are numerous methods that can be used when people are interested in trying bondage. There are also many options that need to be considered. What material do you plan to use, for instance? In bondage you can restrain someone with practically any material you can imagine. You can use silk ties, satin bands, rope, leather restraints, cord, and numerous other things.

You can consider various forms of bondage based on the categories that they derive from. It has been said that there are six main categories that are correct for bondage play.

  1. Bondage that separates body parts (standard tying up of a person’s limbs with material or harness)

  2. Bondage that spreads body parts open (this is accomplished with use of a spreader bar)

  3. Bondage that ties someone to something (used in sexual bondage often as people are tied to beds and other areas)

  4. Bondage that restricts a person’s normal movements (allows them to maintain movement but in limited ways. Handcuffs are a good example)

  5. Bondage that suspends the body (suspension bondage might have you hanging in the air)

  6. Bondage that encases the person in binding or material of some sort. Also known as mummification and can be produced through saran wrap, sleep sacks, and through other material.

How you tie someone up and the techniques in bondage will generally depend on what you are hoping to get out of the situation. You should make sure that when you tie someone up the restraints are firm enough to remain on and loose enough to ensure that circulation will not be tampered with. It is also imperative that you ensure an easy way out of the bondage restraints if something should go wrong.

Techniques in bondage vary greatly based on skill level and interest. While some people will be interested in ropes, others might only wish to use handcuffs or legcuffs. Similarly, some people might be interested in verbal bondage, while others may not. Verbal bondage is usually more specific to BDSM as it is somewhat controlling in nature. This, as you may imagine, is where the dominant positions the submissive in a certain manner and informs them when and how to move.

Japanese rope bondage, on the other hand, is considered to be an art form by many that have been able to view it first hand. There are numerous resources about bondage including the techniques, materials needed, and how-to instructions. If you are interested in a specific form of bondage, you should speak with your partner and research it together for the best possible results.
