Sex and AromatherapyAromatherapy is the process of using scents to relax, heal, or entice the body in some way or another. Scents often evoke emotions in people that can be both positive and negative, depending on the scent. If you smell baking cookies you may associate that with your mother’s kitchen and find yourself smiling. On the other hand, if you smell oil or car fumes it could remind you of a bad accident you were once in or something negative (or positive) about cars. Of course, this is not aromatherapy in the traditional sense, but it works along the same lines. Aromatherapy uses oils, often massage oils, to help a person’s body relax and heal in ways that traditional medicine does not usually help. Aromatherapy does not have to be used specifically to heal. It can be used during moments of intimacy, as well. Massage sessions are a great precursor to sex. You might use some vanilla or rose oil to massage into your partner’s back and over the rest of their body. Depending on the oil that you use you will find that their body will react to the oil. The oil might be used to calm them or remove stress or, as with the case of vanilla, it could be purely based off of the smell. If you are going to massage you might choose to lightly heat the oil, as well. While the oil does not have to be warmed it is often considered to be more soothing if it has been warmed. However, make sure that if you are warming it that you check the temperature before you place the oil on your partner’s skin. Of course, you do not have to use the oil specifically in massage. There are other ways to ensure that a person is able to appreciate and benefit from the scents that will help enhance their body and their sex life. First you need to determine what scents you wish to use. There are hundreds of scents that can be used in aromatherapy. If you want to use flowers it could be as easy as filling the room with flowers. Another option could include a heated oil bowl to allow the scents to drift through the room. If you are taking a bath or giving on to your partner you can drop oil or fragrance into the water or add bubbles for an even more relaxing option. This will allow the oil to make contact with the skin, the scent will be apparent, and your partner will benefit from both the touch and smell of the oil. Take the time to research the oils that are out there and what each one can offer you and your partner where aromatherapy is concerned. On occasion you can mix and match oils to create various effects based on your needs. Whatever you choose to use for aromatherapy can greatly improve your sex life if you work within the realm of its possibility. » 3254 reads |
